How
do you buy a quiet PC?
Making
a high performance computer quiet is an art form.
We are UK authorities on building quiet systems
and we've put together a lot of information for
you (see links to articles below). But the
quickest route to getting a quiet PC is to discuss
your needs with one of our experts. We offer three
options ranging from basic sound
control to completely no noise systems (yes, 0 dba),
based on budget and other factors.
Option
1: Choose any PC from our site and talk to us
about lining the inside of the case with an
acoustic foam that prevents a lot of the sound
from getting out.
Option
2: The full sound control treatment involving
a lot of specialist
parts and techniques
(including the quiet PC foam above), and our
expertise on sound control. Again, choose a model
of PC from our site and speak to us about this
option.
Option
3: A completely fanless case. We were the first
in the UK with a product like this
and we now have several options. These are highly
specialised products so speak with one of our
experts first.

As
personal computers have grown ever more powerful,
the components have grown hotter and the
importance of keeping the components cool is
paramount. In answer to this both heat sinks and
fans have become larger - and there are more of
them, not only on the CPU itself and the power
supply but often also on the motherboard chipset, GPU
(graphics card), case etc. More fans mean more noise and a modern PC can
be very noisy indeed. Modern fast hard disks
generate a lot of noise too.
We
recognise this noise factor and take extra
measures to ensure that our products run as
silently as possible. All our fans, hard disks,
PSUs and other moving parts are carefully
selected. However, we do also offer the option of
upgrading existing PC models to Extra Quiet
Parts by changing the PSU, CPU fan etc to the
premium low-noise products in the market to make
your PC almost completely noise proof.
Other
Advantages: There are of course other advantages
to be gained from removing moving parts like fans.
Fans collect dust even in very clean home
environments. The dust builds over time and the fans
eventually seize up. When your processor fan stops
working your processor stops working soon after, as it
just gets too hot and burns out. Not having fans not
only means a silent and more productive environment,
it also means less downtime and less chance of PC
needing repair.

Warning: When we remove any fan/s
inside a PC we may require the addition of a chassis fan
and/or other measures to improve/redirect air flow within
the case.
