Searching for
companies
Our full list below attempts to link you to the web sites of all
major international computer companies. From the manufacturer's
website you can get product information, and usually, latest
drivers/patches for their products. (Own own driver
download page)
You'll find that most companies own a URL similar to
their company name. Most American companies have the name followed by .com i.e. Intel can
be found at www.intel.com. British companies have a
.co.uk or a .ltd.uk after
the name. You can also try the company name followed by a .net
or a .org for good measure.
You can also use a
search engine to find a company, or to find a specific location within a large corporate
website. Searching on keywords like microsoft,
internet explorer, download will hopefully give
you a link directly to a location within the Microsoft site where you can download
Internet Explorer.
Finding
your way on a large site: Don't forget "truncating".
You can, for example, go to your browser bar now and remove all
text after the ...ltd.uk and it will
take you to our home page. You could just remove the text after freehelp
and you will get to our Support Index page. It's a useful trick on
large corporate sites.
