Importing
email into Outlook / Outlook Express
Importing into
Outlook Express
Users are often
confused as to where there emails are stored. They are typically not
in a folder logically called "Outlook Express". Instead, on
a Windows 98 machine for example, you'll find them in a location
like:
Windows > Application Data > Identities > {letter/number
jumble} > Microsoft > Outlook.
But it does get
trickier. The email is not stored as separate files. It's stored in
the form of a database and you can't copy and paste that email into
your new PC or new installation of Windows. However, it is easy to
import email into a new installation using the Import Wizard. These
articles will show you how:

Importing email
into Outlook
Unlike Outlook
Express the Outlook program keeps all addresses, emails, appointments
etc in one Outlook.pst file. The easiest way is to copy this
file over to the right folder. You can also use the Outlook Import Wizard.
To Import Messages:
From the File menu,
select Import, and then select Messages, choose the
software you wish to import from and click next, browse to the
location of your messages then click next, choose to import the
messages from All Folders, then click next. Click Finish to
import your email messages.
