5. What day/time will it arrive?
(I may not be at home during the day to take delivery)

...And please read this advice note

   How long will it take?

We attempt to despatch all orders no later than 3 working days from receipt of cleared funds (subject to address confirmation by your bank if you are paying with a credit or debit card). If we expect there to be any delay in the particular configuration that you want we will tell you BEFORE we take your order. (Please note that some higher spec PCs, video editing PCs, and servers may take longer because of the extra time it takes to test these machines thoroughly)

Computer companies are notorious for late deliveries. Many companies advertise products even before they are released by the manufacturer. Sometimes you end up waiting for a month only to get a call saying, "Sorry, we still can't supply. Do you want to wait or cancel your order?"

How it works is that companies take your money and use that to buy the parts they need to build your PC. This is a dangerous practice in more ways than one. First, it means that the company is strapped for cash - and that's never a good sign. With several hundred or thousand orders orders per month that works out to a pretty hefty interest free loan. There is also the matter of depreciation. Components get cheaper over time. If you get your PC three months after you've ordered it you've already lost 10-30% of it's value.

We advertise computers for which we already have the components in stock. If for any reason we've run out of stock, or we are very busy, we'll tell you at the time of placing the order that a delay is likely. If the PC is a current award winner in a magazine test we do get extra demand for it and may not always be able to deliver in our normal time frame. If that is the case we will  post it on this site and give you an outside delivery date before you place your order.

 What about damage in transit?

All goods shipped by us are covered by a separate insurance against transit damage. The cover is for the full value of the goods. And it is included in the cost of delivery.

 How much does delivery  cost?

Delivery of a computer system within "mainland" UK (but excluding Northern Ireland) costs £35 + vat for weights up to 40 KGs (which covers most computers). Delivery costs are due for revision and may go up.

If you are ordering more than one computer and you are having them delivered together we will charge you full delivery on the first PC and half delivery on subsequent PCs, for all addresses to mainland UK.

Delivery to Northern Ireland is normally £59 + vat but subject to change. Delivery costs to Eire are under review. Please call for latest information.

Delivery costs to countries within the EU or outside it are subject to weight, location and other factors. Please call for latest information. We do not deliver to the USA.

 What time will it arrive?

We can sometimes give you an expected date of despatch over the phone. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the date or time of arrival exactly, as courier routes vary depending on the work load for the day/week. However, if you are unavailable when they attempt delivery they will leave an "attempted to deliver" card. Simply call the local number on the card and they will re-deliver. You can also take the card to the courier's local depot, with acceptable proof of identity, and you should be able to collect your computer. They are usually open till late in the evenings on weekdays and upto 12.00 noon on Saturdays.

"Before 12 noon" deliveries can be arranged on weekdays. They cost a little bit more than the standard delivery.

Deliveries can also be arranged for Saturdays. These do cost more. If you need to have the delivery made only on a Saturday, please call us for the Saturday delivery price.

 And a little advice . . .

No courier will wait for two hours till you've unpacked your computer and set it all up. They want you to sign that you've received the goods and they want to be on their way.

When accepting goods from a courier a good safety precaution is to sign for them as received "unchecked". This protects you if the goods later turn out to be damaged. Note: Some couriers have the goods "received in good condition" pre-printed on their form. Do not feel embarrassed to cross it out and replace it with "received unchecked"
