The TE2.2
(Throughput Engine Version II), is the first of
two new revolutionary rackmount server products
from Poweroid, both delivering a unique solution
and incorporating the latest 64-bit, SPARC v9,
UltraSPARC processors from Sun Microsystems. The
TE2.2 has been developed to achieve maximum
compute density within a standard 19” rack. An
innovative design approach has enabled two
AX1105 motherboards to be integrated into a
standard 1U chassis, providing 80
independent Unix nodes in a 44U rack. Not
only a world first but at a fraction of the cost
providing twice as much compute power when
compared to any similar integrated Sun solutions
on the market today.
This product suits an extensive range of
application opportunities from general-purpose
servers (such as email or file servers) to
network centric compute farms. Over the last
year the use of compute farms has emerged as an
effective tool for boosting design team
productivity, providing a fully scalable
computational resource enabling a true 24x7
seamless engineering environment.
